Scott Pennington: Two-Minute Joys at Maryland Art Place

Scott Pennington: Two-Minute Joys at Maryland Art Place

I love it when people tell me just to do what I do best. What I do best is look at things in new ways, see angles no one else sees, and find the places light falls and shoot those spaces. I've photographed Scott's work several times now and it's always a fascinating study of moving color and light. I'm absolutely mesmerized buy his sculptures and could spend hours staring at them. Honestly my images do not do them justice as they are better experienced in person.

NetCraftsmen obtained a new office space in 2016 in a recently renovated modern business park in Columbia. They wanted artwork for their walls that fit the design of the space in time for their Grand Opening. They specifically requested local art by local artists and I knew just what they were looking for. I reached out to some women photographer friends of mine to scour their archives and submit personal images. The company board members selected images from an online gallery and I then had thirteen 24X36 metal prints made to be hung throughout the space. This was all accomplished in less than a month and I personally hung all of the pieces days before the Opening date. I had never done anything quite to this scale before but I'm pretty proud of the end result. I think you'll recognize some of my work as well as some pretty iconic locations in Baltimore and DC.
